Faith in action
The trend is noticeable: a swath of young Christians in the U.S. can dissect doctrine but fail to apply it.
They're "academic" Christians - knowledgeable, yet inactive. This observation raises a critical question about the church in our nation: Are we focusing too much on theory over action?
The crux of Christianity isn't just understanding scripture or adhering to laws without genuine faith. Jesus criticized the Pharisees for such behavior, underlining that God's law is fundamentally about love—loving God and loving others. This type of love compels us to act, to demonstrate our faith through our deeds.
The church today is at a crossroads. The emphasis seems misplaced, on outward zeal rather than on fostering a deep, actionable faith. James 2:26 reminds us, "faith without works is dead." Genuine faith in Christ naturally propels us towards obedience and tangible acts of love.
This isn't about earning God's love through actions—His love is a given, shown through Christ's sacrifice. It's about responding to this love by living in obedience, motivated not by duty but by gratitude.
We must shift from being mere "academic" followers to actively living out Christ's teachings. Our lives should testify to the Gospel's transformative power, demonstrating our faith through our actions. In a world marked by inaction, let's exemplify true commitment to Christ—where our belief is not only proclaimed but also practiced.
This is our contemporary challenge: to not just profess faith but to live it boldly, in every aspect of our lives. Let's each answer this call, embracing a faith that acts, a faith that loves, and a faith that truly reflects the essence of Christianity.

"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
- James 2:14-16 -
"My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."*
- 1 John 3:18 -
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
- Matthew 7:21-23 -
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."
